Roadmap to a great story

August 9, 2021 | Blue Setter Creative

All great stories start with a beginning and navigate toward an amazing finale. And, while the plot may wander a bit, an outline keeps the storyteller track. Think of an outline as a roadmap for your content. Creating your own story will be much easier than you imagine.

Outlines follow a simple formula: theme, supporting information, conclusion. That's it. Let's break it down even further:

Theme: Here's where you start your story. State your topic and establish report with your reader.

Supporting information: Answering the who, what, why, and where aspects of the storyline. Who are your clients? What are you offering them? Why do you do what you do? Where do you come from and where are you heading?

Conclusion: Finally, guide readers to your business. and how to contact you.

Here's an example of a basic content-development outline and a helpful cheat sheet:

Sample outline:

I. Main topic (ex. About Me)

II. Paragraph 1 (Who & Where)

     A. Hello my name is...

     B. I am from....

III. Paragraph 2 (What & Why)

     A. My company does....

     B. I saw a need...

IV. Paragraph 3 (Where & How)

    A. My company does This...

    B. My company does That...

V. Call to action

    A. You should join us....

    B. Contact us....
